About Our Production
Asheville Community Theatre is licensed to produce the 1998 Broadway revival of Cabaret, an award-winning musical drama which includes adult situational dialogue combined with provocative costuming within song and dance numbers commenting on these adult situations. There are direct references and images of the Nazi persecution of the Jewish population.
The revival we are licensed to do adds three extra songs from the 1972 Liza Minnelli movie version of Cabaret to the basic plot of the original 1966 Broadway production. The movie version took a great deal of liberty with the original plot while our adult version returns to the Broadway script making this production a cautionary tale of a hedonistic society plunged into the darkness of Nazi Germany atrocities.

Many sexual references throughout the show that run the gamut from bisexuality to prostitution to a menage a trois in a song and dance. Some instances of fairly graphic sexual gestures; some costuming may be revealing and scintillating
