Perfect Harmony: The Land-of-the-Sky Chorus Performs at Asheville Community Theatre

The Asheville Jams concert series continues with a performance from The Land-of-the-Sky Chorus. On Sunday, June 14 at 3:00 pm, this Asheville based group will bring close harmony, comedy, visual vitality and audience participation to the ACT Mainstage. Tickets may be purchased in advance online, over the phone by calling 828-254-1320 or in person at the Asheville Community Theatre Box Office at 35 E. Walnut in downtown Asheville. Tickets for The Land-of-the-Sky Chorus are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12.

The Land-of-the-Sky Chorus entertainingly sings a cappella harmonies predominantly in the barbershop style. Their performances include hilarious segues characterized by G-rated humor reminiscent of Vaudeville days. Though centered in Asheville, their membership includes men from five western North Carolina counties. They enjoy a variety of vocal music activities throughout the area and take pride in their affiliation with the world's largest singing fraternity—the Barbershop Harmony Society.

Members from The Land-of-the-Sky Chorus have had special appearances during Diva*licious 2008 & 2009, as well as at the Diva Cabaret in February.

When folks from The Land-of-the-Sky Chorus have performed in the past at ACT, they have brought the house down,” says Phil Atwood, Managing Director of Asheville Community Theatre. “People absolutely love them! We're really excited to host what we know will be a great afternoon of music.”

Since its inception, Asheville Community Theatre has always been a supporter of local talent. Stage productions at ACT have starred local actors for 63 years and the Lobby Gallery has displayed the work of local visual artists for 7 years. Now Asheville Community Theatre is excited to expand that support to showcase local musicians in a concert series. The Asheville Jams concert series is presented by Asheville Community Theatre and will bring local musicians to the ACT stage. The concert series will run through August 2009 with ticket prices ranging from $5-$10. The Asheville Jams concert series is sponsored by Greenlife.
