ADULT CLASSES
We’re so thrilled to be offering classes for adults once again – and we’re even more thrilled to announce that Ralph Redpath will be teaching them! Ralph has directed more than 60 shows at ACT, including the acclaimed production of To Kill a Mockingbird, and has appeared in or directed over 100 shows during his 42 year history as a member of the acting/directing company at Flat Rock Playhouse, where he recently headlined in Proof. Ralph holds an MFA from the Yale School of Drama, where he trained alongside Meryl Streep.
Fall Session: September 15 – November 10, 2012
Scene Study
Saturdays 12:30 – 2:30 pm
The Scene Study class is geared towards experienced actors with some (or a lot) of experience and who are looking for a theatrical work-out.
Spring Session: February 9 – April 13, 2013
Cost for either class is $150.00. Both the Beginning Acting and the Scene Study classes will have a final performance on April 13 at 7:30 pm in 35below.
Beginning Acting
Saturdays 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
An ideal class for people who want to explore acting. We use simple, fun exercises to explore how to create and communicate character, then add in work on monologues to add the challenge of expressing a character through the language of the playwright.
Scene Study
Saturdays 12:00 – 2:00 pm
Come work on your craft! The Scene Study class is geared towards experienced actors with some (or a lot) of experience and who are looking for a theatrical work-out. Dancers, typically, work at the “bar” every day. This class is an opportunity for you to go beyond: expand your range and work outside roles in which you are usually cast. Scenes can be provided – or you can bring in your own.
To register for class contact Chanda Calentine, ACT Education Director, at 828-254-2939 ext 21 or at chanda@ashevilletheatre.org. She is in the office from 10am until 4pm Mondays – Fridays.
