2025-26 Mainstage Auditions
ACT Mainstage productions are held over two days. Sign up for an audition time by filling out the audition form linked under each show’s information. Walk-ups are always welcome! Walk-ups will be asked to wait until the next available time slot.
Audition Workshop
ACT’s Audition Workshops are designed to give you a head start on your next Mainstage audition. These workshops are an open and inclusive environment, aiming to empower and excite everyone who participates. We focus on boosting your confidence and helping you feel prepared and enthusiastic about auditioning. Workshop participation is not required to audition.

ACT provides audition song options for each Mainstage season show. We choose a number of songs from the show. From this list, please select the song that best showcases your voice and talent. The tracks will be linked under each show’s information. Until we post the list of songs, feel free to listen to the whole show and get familiar with the music!

About The Show
From Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, In the Heights tells the story of a vibrant Latine community. Usnavi the bodega owner and his neighbors dream of a better life beyond the barrio of Washington Heights, New York City. With a dynamic score blending hip-hop, salsa, and merengue, In The Heights celebrates familia, community, and the power of dreams.

About The Show
15-year-old Christopher stands beside his neighbor Mrs. Shears’ dead dog. It has been speared with a garden fork, it is seven minutes after midnight, and Christopher is under suspicion. He records each fact in the book he is writing to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington the dog.
Content Awareness: Strong profanity, intense scenes of animal cruelty, depictions of child abuse, and themes of self-harm.

About The Show
Somewhere in America, an army of pre-teen competitive dancers plots to take over the world. And if their new routine is good enough, they’ll claw their way to the top at Nationals in Tampa Bay. A play about ambition, growing up, and how to find our souls in the heat of it all.
Content Awareness: Please be advised that this production contains stylized gore and use of blood, coarse language, depictions of self-harm and masturbation, and descriptions of sex, sexual assault and harassment of the teenaged characters. About The Show
A truck stop sandwich shop offers its formerly incarcerated kitchen staff a shot at redemption. Even as the shop’s callous owner tries to keep them down, the staff members learn to reclaim their lives, find purpose and become inspired to dream by their shared quest to create the perfect sandwich. A testament to the lived-in experiences of people of color, Clyde’s offers up a delicious sandwich stuffed with second chances and shared community.

Asheville Community Talent Showcase (ACTS)

The Asheville Community Talent Showcase is a diverse showcase of the talent we have here in Asheville. Bring your best skills – plate-spinning, singing, acrobatics, dancing, juggling, baton twirling – the possibilities are endless & very exciting!
Proceeds from ACTS support the Tanglewood Teens & Tech Crew senior scholarship fund. Tanglewood Teens is an audition-based performance troupe that provides a unique platform for young performers to receive top-level training in acting, singing, dancing, and the performing arts. Tanglewood Tech Crew is an application-based tech crew that provides an opportunity for young artists to receive training in all areas of technical theatre. This inclusive program is designed to develop artistic abilities as well as foster teamwork, discipline, and confidence.
Auditions for the 2026 ACTS are closed. Audition sign-ups for the 2027 ACTS will open in Spring 2027.
Student Matinees
Seeking an energetic and diverse cast of adults for Asheville Community Theatre’s 2025-2026 Student Matinee Season – performances for school groups and younger audiences. These are paid performance opportunities.

Youth Auditions
Youth Productions
This an immersive performance workshop that is specially tailored for young artists who aspire to learn and grow in the performing arts. At the First Cast Meeting, students will be taught a dance combination and song to take home and practice for auditions and parents will receive comprehensive information about the entire Youth Production process.
These auditions are not open to the general public. Students must be signed up in advance.

Tanglewood Summer Musicals
Best described as Summer Stock for Youth, Summer Musicals are fast-paced, energetic rehearsal days that culminate in six public performances on the last two days of camp! With songs, dances, and hilarious material great for performers of all ages, the Summer Musical is sure to be an unforgettable experience!
These auditions are not open to the general public. Students must be signed up in advance.
Tanglewood Troupes
ACT is excited to offer three year-long programs for middle and high school students to receive top-level training in the performing arts.

Auditions sign-ups and applications for the 2026-27 Tanglewood Teens, Tanglewood Youth and Tanglewood Tech programs will open Summer 2026.
Script Check-Out Policy
Asheville Community Theatre makes play scripts available prior to auditions. In order to ensure that scripts are returned in good condition and in a timely manner, we ask everyone to follow the following policies:
- Each person checking out a script must leave a $10 refundable deposit or a credit card number. We will keep the cash deposit or charge your card if the script is not returned by the due date or is damaged.
- Scripts are typically available to check out for a 7-day period. One week before auditions, scripts are only available to be checked out for a 24-hour period.
- We are not able to lend scripts or music for musicals.
- Scripts are available for check out at the Box Office. Please call us at 828-254-1320 for hours or to check on the availability of your script.
Asheville Community Theatre will not cast a minor and an adult to portray an on-stage relationship.
Asheville Community Theatre policy prohibits participation by anyone on any sex offender or sexual abuse registry in any activity sponsored by Asheville Community Theatre.
